Gurren Lagann is an excellent mecha anime series that finds new angles on rebellion narratives and underdog protagonists, which it combines with unique robot designs. Simon's mission to balance the world and take out the sinister Spiral threat is juxtaposed with his love for Nia. The OST also slaps. Gurren Lagann is also my favourite anime! It's hard finding anything like it and it's just so good. The movies are alright for being "mostly" recaps except the final battle, but the second one is significantly better as it's more a heavy restructuring of the second act altogether.

The Gurren Lagann evolves to an even higher stage, becoming Dai Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann which is even larger than galaxies! There's an. It is just badass throughout the entire anime. The ending was great, because it was the complete contrast to the prologue. Many people didn't understand what the prologue was, but the point of it was to show an alternate ending. The ending that the Anti-Spirals predicted.
